Millie Mackintosh has disclosed that her husband Hugo Taylor threatened to divorce her three years ago following an incident where her drinking "humiliated" him. The couple, who first met as teenagers and later starred together on the reality show Made In Chelsea, have reportedly decided to separate after seven and a half years of marriage.
The Tipping Point That Changed Everything
During a January 2025 appearance on This Morning to promote her book Bad Drunk, Millie recalled the moment that became her turning point. She described how her heavy drinking was "really affecting my life, affecting my relationships, especially with my husband." The 36-year-old media personality, now sober, explained that Hugo had delivered an ultimatum after she got drunk at a friend's wedding.
"Hugo reportedly told her that their marriage was 'going to end unless you deal with this'," Millie confirmed. "Yes, and it had got to the point where I had really taken it too far and I'd really humiliated him. I was so embarrassed."
That confrontation proved to be the catalyst for change. "It was a couple of days after that where I finally got to the point where I said 'enough is enough now' - and that was two and a half years ago," she revealed.
Hidden Struggles and Relationship Fallout
In a podcast episode released this week, Millie spoke candidly about the consequences of concealing her drinking and prescription pill use from her husband. She acknowledged that her behaviour "definitely did cause a lot of fallouts" and recognised that continuing would cause "the relationship a lot of damage."
"When I stopped, we had to really do some work on our relationship because my drinking had been quite problematic," Millie explained on the Rise with Roxie podcast. She described the familiar cycle for those with unhealthy relationships with alcohol: "constantly wake up and regret something you've said or something you did and constantly feel like you're on the back foot with your partner."
A Difficult Decision After Years Together
A source close to the couple told The Daily Mail that they are "currently going through a separation and have sadly decided to split." The insider revealed that despite knowing each other for many years, recent weeks have seen "serious conversations about their future," ultimately leading to the decision to part ways.
"Their main priority remains their children and family life, and separating is not something they ever hoped would happen," the source continued. "At present, they are considering what living apart might look like and how they plan to navigate co-parenting their young children."
