TV Star's Health Journey Takes Another Turn
Beloved television presenter Davina McCall has shared significant health news with her followers, revealing she recently underwent surgery for breast cancer. This development comes nearly a year after the star had a benign brain tumour removed.
The 58-year-old broadcaster disclosed her diagnosis in a candid video posted to her Instagram account on Saturday, 8th November 2025. McCall described feeling "very angry" upon receiving the news but said she has since reached a "much more positive place" following successful treatment.
The Discovery That Changed Everything
McCall explained that her journey began when she discovered a lump in her breast several weeks ago. "It came and went but then I was working on The Masked Singer and Lorraine, the TV show, and Lorraine Kelly had put signs on the backs of all the doors saying 'check your breasts' and every time I went for a wee, I did that," she revealed.
The persistent reminder from her colleague proved crucial. "It was still there, and then one morning I saw myself in the mirror and thought 'I'm going to get that looked at'. I had a biopsy. I found out it was indeed breast cancer and I had it taken out in a lumpectomy nearly three weeks ago," McCall shared.
Positive Prognosis and Future Treatment
Fortunately, the television personality confirmed that the tumour was "very, very small" and had been detected at an early stage. "I am so relieved to have had it removed and to know that it hasn't spread. My lymph nodes were clear, I didn't have any removed, and all I'm going to do now is have five days of radiotherapy in January as kind of an insurance policy," she explained.
McCall expressed gratitude towards her medical team, family, and fiancé for their unwavering support during this challenging period. "It's been a lot. I was very angry when I found out, but I let go of that, and I feel in a much more positive place now," she reflected.
Important Health Message for Women
The former Big Brother host used her platform to deliver a vital health message to women everywhere. "I think my message is: get checked if you're worried. Check yourself regularly. If you are due a mammogram, then get it done," she urged.
McCall also shared a personal lesson about not delaying important health checks. "I have dense breasts and I had a mammogram in August, and I was postponing the ultrasound; I just couldn't find time to do it. Don't do that. Get the ultrasound," she advised, highlighting the importance of comprehensive screening.
This breast cancer diagnosis follows McCall's revelation last November that she had undergone surgery to remove a benign brain tumour, described as a "very rare" colloid cyst. She noted that the chances of having such a condition were "three in a million" and that it was discovered after a company offered her a health scan in exchange for giving a menopause talk.
In recent years, McCall has become a prominent advocate for women's health, particularly regarding menopause awareness. Her 2022 book, Menopausing, won Book of the Year at the British Book Awards, and she has fronted several documentaries on the subject.
The presenter has personal experience with cancer's impact, having previously raised money for Cancer Research UK by running the Race For Life in honour of her late sister, Caroline Baday, who died from lung cancer in 2012 at age 50.
McCall continues to present ITV's dating show My Mum, Your Dad and hosts a weekly lifestyle podcast called Making The Cut with her fiancé, hairdresser Michael Douglas.
