Access Self Storage Staff Complete 100km Relay for Cancer Research UK

Staff members from Access Self Storage stores nationwide laced up their trainers on March 6th, 2026, to participate in a collective 100km charity relay race, raising crucial funds for Cancer Research UK. The 30-strong team, comprising employees from across the UK network, traveled to London for the event, which began and ended in Hyde Park as part of Self Storage Week—a celebration highlighting the self storage industry and its charitable contributions.

Inclusive Challenge for a Vital Cause

Participants walked and jogged their individual legs at their own pace, making the challenge inclusive and accessible to staff of all fitness levels. By working together, they collectively covered the full 100 kilometres in support of life-saving cancer research. The relay format symbolised the collaborative spirit of the business, with each participant playing a key role in reaching the overall goal, demonstrating the strength of teamwork and shared commitment within the Access Self Storage community.

Community Engagement and Industry Spotlight

While Self Storage Week aims to shine a light on the lesser-known self storage industry and its vital role for individuals, families, and businesses across the country, this fundraiser was specifically designed to raise awareness of how the industry can contribute to community good. The event also celebrated the people behind the storage sector, offering staff an opportunity to connect with stores, communities, and causes.

Leadership Perspective on the Event

Jan-Albert Fourie, general manager of operations at Access Self Storage, commented on the initiative, stating, “Taking on 100 kilometres as a team is a huge challenge, but it reflects exactly what we’re about at Access, supporting one another and working together to achieve something meaningful. Cancer Research UK is a cause close to so many of us personally, and we’re proud to be coming together from across our 57 stores to make every kilometre count.” This effort underscores the company’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment while making a positive impact through charitable activities.
