A mother has described her unimaginable grief after her two-year-old daughter tragically died on Christmas Day, having fallen into a garden pond at the family's new home in Doncaster.
A Christmas Day Turned to Tragedy
Isobel Wallace was discovered in the water feature after she ventured into the garden while the family was inside playing with new toys. The incident occurred on December 25, 2025, at the property her family was renovating as their 'forever home'.
Relatives and emergency services performed CPR on the little girl before she was rushed to hospital. Despite all efforts, Isobel was pronounced dead. Her mother, Tamara, who is pregnant with a son, has now spoken publicly of her devastation.
A Mother's Tribute to Her 'Magic Girl'
In a moving tribute, Tamara remembered her daughter as a 'magic girl' filled with 'adventure and fire'. She stated that Isobel lived more in her two short years than some children do in a lifetime.
'Everyone who knows Isobel and us knows how gifted she was,' Tamara said. She vowed that Isobel would forever be 'Mummy and daddy's Christmas angel'.
The grieving mother added that she and her husband Aaron would raise Isobel's soon-to-be-born baby brother in the same spirit, ensuring he knows about his amazing sister. 'She will always be part of us,' Tamara affirmed.
Family's Anguish and Call for Support
The family has explained that the pond was surrounded by a temporary protective fence while renovations were ongoing, and the garden was not a place Isobel would normally access alone. Describing the frantic moments, Isobel's aunt, Abigail Maxwell, said the children had been playing between rooms when Isobel slipped away.
'We couldn’t find her for a moment & in that moment, she’s gone in the garden & fell in the pond,' Abigail wrote on a GoFundMe page established to create a memorial fairy garden in Isobel's honour.
On the fundraiser, Abigail called her niece a 'darling angel girl' and described her as the happiest and most adventurous little girl, who lit up the lives of everyone around her. The memorial garden is intended to be a place where Isobel's magical personality can be remembered.
Abigail's message concluded with a poignant reminder to the community: 'Please help where you can and hug your own babies extra tight, today and everyday.'
