Neighbours Beaten Back by Flames in Hamstreet House Fire
Kent house fire: Neighbours battled blaze in Hamstreet

Residents on a quiet new-build estate in Kent have described the terrifying moment they tried to rush into a neighbour's burning home, only to be beaten back by the ferocious flames.

Emergency Response in White Admiral Way

The incident occurred at a semi-detached property on White Admiral Way in Hamstreet, near Ashford. Emergency services were called to the scene just after midday on Sunday 28 December 2025.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service dispatched a significant force to tackle the inferno. Six fire engines and a height vehicle are currently in attendance, with crews working to contain and extinguish the blaze.

Neighbours' Desperate Attempts to Help

Local residents reported that the fire started on the ground floor and spread with alarming speed. One neighbour, who attempted to help, said: "It started downstairs and spread really quickly. There was nothing we could do at that point. It was really bad. We were all beaten back."

The intensity of the fire was evident from the damage, with ground floor windows completely blown out. Festive decorations, including a Santa and Rudolph sleigh, lay deflated in the front garden amidst the chaos.

Ongoing Incident and Public Advice

Authorities have issued clear guidance to people in the vicinity. A statement from Kent Fire and Rescue Service advised: "People living or travelling near this area are being advised to close windows and doors due to smoke coming from the incident and to also stay away from the area."

Kent Police were called at 12.22pm and officers are assisting with road closures while firefighters continue their work. The police have not yet confirmed any injuries or missing persons linked to the fire.

The community in the usually tranquil village of Hamstreet is now awaiting further updates as emergency services work to bring the situation under full control.
