Police in Norfolk have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found with serious injuries in a residential street and later pronounced dead.
Emergency Call to Catherine Gardens
Officers were called to Catherine Gardens in Thorpe St Andrew, just outside Norwich, at approximately 11.45pm on Saturday night. The call came following reports that a woman had been injured in the street. Emergency services, including paramedics, rushed to the scene but despite their efforts, the woman was declared dead at the location.
Arrest Made on Sunday Morning
The investigation moved swiftly, leading to an arrest on Sunday morning. A man, believed to be in his 60s, was detained by police on Dereham Road in Norwich. He was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
Scene Investigations and Road Closures
Norfolk Constabulary has confirmed that forensic investigations are ongoing at two key locations. Police seals are in place at Catherine Gardens, where the woman was found, and on Dereham Road, where the arrest was made.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area as Yarmouth Road is closed between the junctions of Pound Lane and School Avenue to facilitate the police investigation. Drivers should seek alternative routes.
