A 52-year-old man has died in hospital following a medical episode that occurred during his arrest by New South Wales police in a Sydney suburb.
Police Respond to Domestic Incident
Officers were called to a property in Homebush at approximately 8.30am on Monday morning. The response was triggered by reports of an alleged domestic or family violence-related incident, according to an official police statement.
Use of Force and Medical Emergency
During attempts to detain the man, police officers deployed OC spray, commonly known as pepper spray. Shortly afterwards, the man suffered a serious medical episode. Paramedics treated him at the scene before rushing him to hospital in a critical condition.
In a tragic turn, the man succumbed to his condition and was pronounced dead on Monday evening.

The incident has been classified as a critical incident, prompting a thorough investigation. This investigation will be subject to an independent review, as is standard procedure in such cases. A report detailing the circumstances will be prepared for the coroner.
Earlier on Monday, the severity of the situation was underscored when police were forced to stop traffic to urgently escort an ambulance from the scene, highlighting the desperate efforts to save the man's life.
