Police have launched an urgent appeal to find a vulnerable new mother who disappeared from a London hospital shortly after giving birth.
Woman Vanishes After Childbirth
Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to a hospital in Romford at around 5pm on Tuesday, 30 December. The call concerned a woman, believed to be in her 20s, who had left the medical facility soon after delivering her baby.
The newborn remains in the hospital under the care of staff and is reported to be in good health. Authorities, however, are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of the mother.
Description and Police Appeal
The missing woman is described as having a slim build and dark hair. She was last seen wearing a light-coloured top and a patterned skirt.
Detective Inspector Neil Godwin, who is leading the investigation, emphasised the non-criminal nature of the search. "This woman has just given birth and, because of this, she is extremely vulnerable," he stated. "This is not a criminal investigation – we need to locate her to make sure she is ok."
He added: "It is extremely important that if you know, or have any information about the whereabouts of this woman that you tell us so we can ensure she gets the right support."
How to Help
The police are urging anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward immediately. The public can assist by calling the non-emergency number 101 and quoting the reference CAD3892/30Dec.
Finding the woman swiftly is deemed a critical priority for her safety and wellbeing in the aftermath of childbirth.
