Influencer Lorna Luxe Reveals Husband's Final Valentine's Gift After His Death
Fashion influencer Lorna Luxe, 43, has shared the emotional final gift her husband John Andrews, 64, arranged for her before his death from stage four adrenal cancer. The couple, married for 16 years, had been open about Andrews' cancer journey since his 2023 diagnosis, documenting treatment on social media until his passing at their Warwickshire home.
A Heartbreaking Announcement and Poignant Discovery
Luxe announced her husband's death on Thursday evening, revealing they were in bed holding hands when he passed away, which she described as "exactly what he wanted." She declared him a "class act" and vowed to "love him forever," expressing her heartbreak to her 1.7 million Instagram followers.
A day later, Luxe returned to social media to share a remarkable discovery while going through unopened mail. She found a large envelope addressed to Andrews containing several Valentine's cards he had prepared for her. "I've been opening mail and this big envelope addressed to John arrived a couple of weeks ago so I opened it," she wrote.
The cards included one featuring a couple's selfie surrounded by the word "LOVE" and others with humorous edits showing Luxe's face on the Mona Lisa and Andrews as Cupid. "Legendary behaviour here John," she commented. "It was the chuckle I needed."
A Love Story That Defied Age Differences
The couple met at a Brighton bar when Luxe was in her twenties, with their 21-year age gap becoming part of their public story. "At first, I thought, 'Who's this older bloke chatting to me?'" she recalled in a recent interview. "But then as soon as I talked to him, I was thinking, 'Wow, who is this charismatic man?'"
She described Andrews as "the first man I was ever in awe of" and noted that gift-giving remained important to him until his final days. They married on her 26th birthday and lived together in a £2.5 million Warwickshire mansion where Luxe runs three businesses.
A Public Cancer Journey and Final Preparations
Luxe first revealed Andrews' stage three adrenal cancer diagnosis in April 2023, sharing his chemotherapy treatment with followers. He achieved remission that November, but the cancer returned in May 2024, spreading to his brain. By last month, treatment was no longer an option.
The end of 2025 proved particularly challenging when Andrews was hospitalized with sepsis in December. He recovered sufficiently to spend Christmas at home, but the couple used this time to prepare practically for his eventual passing. "We changed accountants; we got better lawyers," Luxe explained. "He said we need to prepare, so if he's not here, things will be done and I won't have to worry."
Celebrity Support and Lasting Memories
Following her announcement, Luxe received an outpouring of support from celebrity friends including Rochelle Humes, Abbey Clancy, Lisa Snowdon, Holly Willoughby, Myleene Klass, Michelle Keegan, and Susanna Reid. Many commented on her original post expressing condolences and love.
Luxe also shared a sweet video clip showing the couple wearing matching cream knitwear and denim jeans, with Andrews kissing her head and saying, "I love you so much. You're the best thing in the world for me."
The couple, who had no children, focused on making memories through holidays and trips in their final months together. "We can't take that money with us, right?" Luxe remarked about their decision to prioritize experiences.
Understanding Adrenal Cancer
Adrenal cancer is a rare cancer that begins in the adrenal glands located above each kidney. The specific tumor type Andrews had, phaeochromocytoma, mainly affects adults and can sometimes spread to other body parts. Symptoms often occur as sudden attacks that may include:
- Headaches and heavy sweating
- Heart palpitations and high blood pressure
- A pale face with nausea or vomiting
- Feelings of anxiety, panic, or shakiness
As Luxe navigates widowhood in her forties, she has reflected on potential future paths, joking about possibly adopting in her fifties but acknowledging it would be "a struggle without John around." For now, she focuses on the memories and the final thoughtful gift that brought her comfort during this difficult time.
