Tributes to 'one-of-a-kind' Manchester girl, 13

The family of a 13-year-old girl who died in Manchester last month have paid a heartbreaking tribute to their 'bubbly, loving' daughter, as police continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding her death.

A Tragic Loss in Manchester

Madison Richardson, affectionately known as Maddie, passed away in hospital on November 24. Emergency services had initially been called to her home address in Manchester following a report expressing concern for her welfare. The Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a full investigation was launched in the days after her tragic death.

Detective Andrew Day provided an update on the ongoing police investigation. 'An arrest has been made in relation to allegations of harassment in the days leading up to her death,' he stated. 'While that 14-year-old boy has since been bailed, inquiries are very much ongoing.' The detective emphasised that the investigation aims to understand if anyone else's actions contributed to the tragedy and to secure answers for Madison's grieving family.

'A Laugh That Everyone Will Remember'

In a poignant statement released as they face their first Christmas without her, Madison's family described the immense void her passing has left. 'We are heartbroken and devastated by the sudden loss of our daughter, Maddie,' they said. They remembered her as a vibrant character who lit up every room and possessed a memorable laugh.

The family's tribute highlighted her protective nature and kind heart: 'Maddie truly was one of a kind, she had a heart of gold and was fiercely protective of those she loved, especially her siblings, who will miss her deeply.' In their statement, they also mentioned the mental health charity for children and young people, YoungMinds.

School Pays Tribute to a Remarkable Talent

James Docherty, executive headteacher at Teenage Kicks in Failsworth, also shared a moving tribute to the teenager. He spoke of Madison's 'remarkable' artistic talent and her profound impact on those around her. 'Maddie didn't just make beautiful art – she made people feel special,' he said.

He recalled her gentle kindness, which touched both pupils and staff. 'Even when she was having a rant, you knew deep down she didn't mean it,' Mr. Docherty added, painting a picture of a spirited and beloved student. 'Maddie will forever be part of our school family, and she will be carried in our memories with love, pride, and endless appreciation for the light she brought into our lives.'

The Greater Manchester Police investigation into the precise circumstances of Madison Richardson's death remains active. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to provide closure for a family enduring an unimaginable loss.
