Hoxton Stabbing Incident Leaves Community in Shock and Fear
Residents of Hoxton are expressing profound shock and fear following a violent stabbing incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning. A man in his 40s was discovered with stab wounds on Evelyn Walk at approximately 2:30 a.m. on February 13, prompting an immediate emergency response.
Dramatic Crime Scene Photographs Reveal Blood-Stained Vehicle
Dramatic photographs from the scene, published by MyLondon, show a vehicle with a severely smashed bonnet and visible blood stains. The car was surrounded by medical equipment, including a tin foil blanket and surgical gloves, indicating the urgent medical attention provided at the location.
The Metropolitan Police Service confirmed that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains under assessment. Authorities have stated that no arrests have been made at this time, and urgent enquiries are actively underway to identify those responsible for the attack.
Long-Term Residents Express Disbelief and Concern
Janet Ellis, a 78-year-old resident who has lived in the area for over three decades, described the incident as deeply shocking. "This kind of stuff really doesn’t happen around here. It’s so quiet. You get the odd sort of person shouting and screaming but nothing like this," she said. Ellis emphasized the close-knit nature of the community, where families know each other and local interactions are commonplace.
Another resident, who grew up near Murray Grove and wished to remain anonymous, expressed complete surprise upon learning about the stabbing. "It’s honestly a bit mad that this has happened on Murray. I’ve got workers in my house and they told me someone had been stabbed and I thought ‘what!' We’ve not had a stabbing for at least 4 or 5 years, and then maybe 15 years before that," he recounted.
Mixed Reactions from the Local Community
While many residents were taken aback by the violence, some expressed less surprise. Rheya, a lifelong resident of the area, noted that she was not overly shocked when she first saw the crime scene on Evelyn Street. "I didn’t realise what had happened at first, I usually get the bus up there and it wasn’t coming. Then I saw the crime scene. It’s not that shocking to be honest. I’m not surprised," she stated.
Another anonymous resident admitted to feeling scared by the incident, highlighting broader concerns about knife crime. "It’s scary obviously but it’s happening everywhere now. My husband saw all the blue light this morning but thought nothing of it. Then I came out today to open up the shop and had to turn around. But like I said, I’m not overly shocked by it," she explained.
Police Appeal for Information and Ongoing Investigation

No arrests have been made, and officers are making urgent enquiries."
