Thai Police Launch International Manhunt for British Suspect in Wife's Murder
Thai authorities have initiated a widespread search for a British national following the fatal shooting of his wife at a hotel resort in northeastern Thailand. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and triggered an urgent police operation.

Police discovered the body of Pattanee Urapanom, 43, earlier this morning at the Janpanom Farm Stay in Maha Sarakham province. According to initial reports, she was found lying face up on a motorcycle. Officers immediately moved her to the ground to perform CPR, but she was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound to the head.
The primary suspect has been identified as Anthony James Condron, 56, originally from Witham in Essex. Police believe he shot his wife with a 9mm handgun as she was mounting the motorcycle to leave the resort before fleeing the area.
Police Investigation and Community Response
Police Major General Paladech Petwango provided details about the victim and the ongoing investigation. "The victim was a well-loved member of the community due to her friendly nature and volunteering work with schools and charities," he stated. "Her friends and family are in shock. They are overcome with grief and cannot understand how this happened."
Neighbours interviewed by police reported hearing Condron shouting at his wife in English before gunshots were fired. They indicated the couple had argued frequently prior to the incident and noted that the husband had a history of violent behaviour.
Extensive Manhunt Operation
Thai police have established multiple checkpoints around the area in their search for Condron, who has reportedly lived in Thailand for more than ten years. Authorities tracked his route from the crime scene to Khon Kaen province, where he abandoned his white Isuzu vehicle.
"We coordinated with the Immigration Bureau, the regional Investigation Division, Maha Sarakham Provincial Police, and several agencies to assist in the manhunt," explained Major General Petwango.
Police have expressed particular concern because Condron is believed to be armed with a firearm, prompting fears for public safety. Officers have requested an international arrest warrant for homicide charges against the British national.
