Tragedy in Spain as British Mother Allegedly Killed by Ex-Partner
A British mother-of-three has been allegedly stabbed to death by her ex-partner at her home in Spain, in a shocking incident that has left the local community reeling. Victoria Hart, 33, originally from the West Midlands, was found dead by police after emergency services were alerted around 11.30am on Saturday.
Son's Desperate Escape to Summon Help
According to local reports, Victoria's 11-year-old son fled the scene to call for help after the attack. The youngster, who has twin seven-year-old sisters, is said to have contacted his grandmother, telling her: 'My dad just killed my mum.' The children were reportedly inside the house at the time of the incident, adding to the trauma of the situation.
Suspect Hands Himself In at Local Prison
The alleged attacker, said to be Victoria's ex-partner, was arrested on suspicion of murder after he handed himself in at the nearby Alhaurín de la Torre Prison. Spanish media reports indicate he told prison staff: 'Arrest me, I've done something very bad.' He also reportedly informed workers that three children were in the house and added: 'I lost my mind.'
The incident took place at a residential estate in Alhuarin el Grande, a town approximately a 50-minute drive inland from Marbella. Police recovered a kitchen knife from the scene, which has been seized by investigators as evidence.
Community Outpouring and Official Condemnation
Tributes have poured in online for Victoria, with friends describing her as a 'beautiful person' and 'great mother.' One friend labelled the suspect an 'animal,' while another expressed heartbreak at the tragedy, stating: 'This should never have happened.'
Alhaurin el Grande Town Council has issued a statement expressing deepest sorrow at the murder and condemning it as an act of gender-based violence. Mayor Anthony Bermudez has declared Monday 26 January 2026 an official day of mourning in the municipality as a sign of respect and solidarity.
Background and Restraining Order
Victoria, who ran her own business as a hairdresser and beautician in Spain, is thought to have moved from the West Midlands. Her estranged husband, who was from Alhaurin el Grande, reportedly had a restraining order preventing him from approaching her or going to the family home. The ex-partner, who is expected to appear in court, also owned a chicken rotisserie in the town of nearly 28,000 people.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Malaga confirmed: 'The Civil Guard is investigating the death of a woman in Alhaurin el Grande. Her ex-partner has been arrested as the alleged killer.' The Foreign Office has stated that while they have not been approached for consular assistance, their staff stand ready to support British nationals overseas.
