Kuwait City Skyscraper Ravaged by Fire After Drone and Missile Barrage

A massive fire tore through a skyscraper in Kuwait City early this morning following a series of drone and missile attacks, marking a severe escalation in regional hostilities. Kuwait's military reported intercepting numerous aerial threats from Iran, but several explosions ignited the towering inferno, with thick smoke billowing into the sky.

Casualties and Military Response

The Interior Ministry confirmed that two border guards were killed while performing their national duty during the swarm of missiles and drones that struck Kuwait. Emergency services are battling the blaze, which has caused significant structural damage to the large commercial and residential tower.

Israeli Strikes on Iranian Oil Facilities

This incident coincides with Israeli airstrikes targeting the Shahran Oil Depot north of Tehran, which stores gasoline and other products for the capital's residents. Flames engulfed the facility, sending smoke clouds over the skyline in what appears to be the first attack on a civil industrial site in the ongoing conflict.

Iranian state media blamed an attack from the US and the Zionist regime, while President Masoud Pezeshkian issued an apology for attacks on neighboring countries, even as Iran's missiles and drones continued to target Gulf Arab states.

Regional Conflict Intensifies

Israel renewed its assault on southern Lebanon early Sunday, targeting commanders of the Lebanese branch of Iran's Revolutionary Guards' Quds Force. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised many surprises for the next phase, with the Israeli military vowing not to allow Iranian terrorist elements to establish themselves in Lebanese territory.

Leadership Crisis in Iran

Amid the turmoil, Iran's temporary leadership council faces pressure to appoint a new supreme leader swiftly after former Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, was killed by US-Israeli strikes. The Assembly of Experts may convene within a day, with consultations ongoing remotely or in person among its 88 members.

Since Khamenei's assassination, Iran has been led by a three-person council comprising President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief Justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, and Ayatollah Alireza Arafi.

The situation remains fluid, with international observers warning of further escalation as diplomatic efforts struggle to contain the spreading violence across the Middle East.
