Count Binface challenges Farage in Clacton by-election after major parties withdraw
Count Binface takes on Farage in Clacton by-election

Count Binface has emerged as the sole challenger to Nigel Farage in the upcoming Clacton by-election, after all major political parties declined to field candidates. The by-election was triggered by Farage's resignation amid investigations into £5 million in undeclared gifts.

Major parties boycott Farage's by-election

Labour, the Conservatives, and Restore Britain have all ruled out standing against Farage, branding the contest a distraction from the parliamentary probe into his finances. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch stated: 'We will not be standing a candidate in the fake by-election that Farage is causing to distract people from what is happening. We need to let that investigation run its course.'

A Labour Party spokesperson added: 'Nigel Farage is engulfed in a sleaze scandal and he’s desperately trying to change the subject. It’s pathetic, and the Labour Party is not going to indulge it.'

Count Binface steps up

Count Binface, the intergalactic crusader and perennial candidate, has called on other parties to stand aside. He said: 'Labour, Tories, Lib Dems and Greens: I demand you stand down in Clacton. I will be a unity candidate and pledge to build at least one affordable house. Nigel Farage says he wants The People versus the Establishment. So be it. Leave him to me.'

Farage resigned as MP for Clacton amid questions over his finances, including £5 million in gifts that he allegedly failed to declare. Badenoch accused him of running away from scrutiny: 'The best thing for him would have been to call a press conference and explain what he did with the money. Instead, he has been running away from scrutiny.'

What happens next

The by-election is expected to take place in the coming weeks, with Count Binface as the only declared candidate opposing Farage. Other minor candidates may still enter the race. The outcome remains uncertain as voters weigh Farage's record against the novelty of Binface's campaign.
