ICE Agent Identified in Minneapolis Shooting: 10-Year Veteran Jonathan David Ross
ICE Agent Named in Fatal Minneapolis Shooting

ICE Agent Named in Fatal Minneapolis Shooting Incident

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent responsible for the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good during an operation in Minneapolis has been identified. He is Jonathan David Ross, a Minneapolis resident and a ten-year veteran of the agency's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) special response team.

The identification follows court records that match details of a separate incident in June 2025, cited by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and JD Vance. Good, a mother of three, was killed during an immigration sweep, sparking immediate outrage and large-scale protests.

Political Fallout and Official Reactions

The shooting has triggered strident rebukes from Minnesota officials and threats in Congress to withhold funding from the Department of Homeland Security. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey delivered a blunt message to the agency: "To ICE – get the fuck out of Minneapolis."

While federal officials initially refused to name the officer involved, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune first reported Ross's identity. The FBI's refusal to involve Minnesota law enforcement in the investigation prompted Governor Tim Walz to express doubt about a fair outcome. The Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for comment on Thursday.

Secretary Noem labelled Good's actions "an act of domestic terrorism," alleging she blocked federal agents with her vehicle. Both Noem and JD Vance referenced a prior incident where the agent was allegedly dragged by a car.

The Shooting and a Prior Violent Confrontation

Widely circulated social media videos show Good attempting to turn her red SUV around to leave the scene as an agent tries to force open her passenger door. The agent, identified as Ross, is seen walking to the driver's side and firing four shots into the vehicle. The SUV sped away and crashed shortly after.

Court records reveal Ross was previously involved in the June 2025 arrest of Roberto Carlos Muñoz, an undocumented immigrant with a criminal conviction. An FBI affidavit states that during that arrest, Muñoz drove off while an ERO agent was partially inside the vehicle, dragging him approximately 100 yards.

The agent, confirmed as Jonathan Ross in jury instructions, suffered serious arm lacerations requiring 33 stitches. At a White House briefing, JD Vance incorrectly stated the injuries were to the agent's leg, defending his sensitivity to vehicle threats.

Muñoz was later detained, charged with assaulting an officer, and convicted in early December. Property and voter records confirm a 46-year-old Jonathan David Ross lives in northeast Minneapolis, and his appearance matches the video from Good's shooting.

The incident continues to fuel protests and intense political debate over immigration enforcement tactics in the United States.
