Pensioner Released After Woman's Death Found Natural

A pensioner who was arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in an East London home has been de-arrested following a post-mortem examination.

Incident in Dagenham

The woman, aged 70, was found dead at a property on Boulton Road in Dagenham on Sunday, June 14. Police initially arrested a 75-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of murder.

However, a post-mortem conducted on Tuesday, June 16, provisionally determined that the woman likely died of natural causes. As a result, the suspect was released without charge.

Police Investigation

Detective Inspector Mark Waker, who is leading the investigation, stated: "We understand how concerning this news will be for the local community, and our officers will remain in the area today to provide reassurance."

He added: "Our thoughts remain with the loved ones of the woman who died. Detectives continue to work to establish exactly what has taken place, but at this time we believe this was an isolated incident."

Police expressed condolences to the woman's family and confirmed that officers would maintain a presence in the area for a period to address any community concerns.
