The picture-perfect winter wedding of Olympic champion Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, was reportedly marred by a deep family rift, culminating in a devastating text message sent to the groom just before the ceremony.

A Ceremony Overshadowed by Family Strife

Adam Peaty, 30, and Holly Ramsay, 25, tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony last Saturday, with guests including David and Victoria Beckham. The couple, who got engaged in September 2024, celebrated with Holly's entire family, including her father Gordon, mother Tana, and siblings.

However, the joyous occasion was clouded by an ongoing feud within Peaty's family. Reports indicate that his mother, Caroline Peaty, 59, was absent after allegedly being 'banned' from attending her son's wedding. The tension is said to have spilled over from Holly's hen do, which Caroline also missed.

In emotional comments to the Daily Mail, Caroline expressed her profound hurt, stating she felt Holly and Adam had 'cut my heart out'. She added, 'I'm not going to be hurt like this again'.

The Heartbreaking Pre-Wedding Message

The depth of the family breakdown was starkly revealed when Peaty's aunt, Louise, who was also reportedly not invited, sent the swimmer a poignant text message just before he walked down the aisle.

The message, seen by the Daily Mail, read: 'I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.' It continued with a stark reminder: 'Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.'

Caroline had initially vowed to 'watch from the street' in a form of protest but was persuaded by her husband, Mark, not to attend as it would be too upsetting. A family source told The Sun she accepted 'it would be too sad, and she doesn't want to spoil his big day'.

Moving Forward Amidst the Drama

Despite the family tensions, the wedding proceeded. Adam was seen entering the church with his four-year-old son, George, from his previous relationship with Eirianedd Munro. Holly was walked down the aisle by her proud father, Gordon Ramsay, who later shared a heartfelt message on Instagram.

He wrote: 'I'm truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law Adam Peaty! I love you so much Holly Ramsay and couldn't be a prouder Dad.'

Peaty has previously credited the Ramsay family with helping him through a difficult period, describing an escape from 'three years of hell' battling alcoholism and his relationship breakdown. Last month, he addressed the family fallout in a statement, saying the reporting had been 'one-sided and, in many cases, excessive and intrusive', and was 'encouraged by members of my family'.

The couple's relationship timeline shows they met in 2021 on Strictly Come Dancing, confirmed their romance in 2023, and became engaged in 2024.
