Hollywood superstar Jennifer Lawrence has unexpectedly pulled back the curtain on her secret online life, revealing a passionate and 'intense' mission to educate TikTok users about the British Royal Family.
The Secret TikTok Life of a Star
During an interview promoting her upcoming thriller comedy Die My Love, the 35-year-old Hunger Games icon confessed to maintaining a clandestine presence on the social media platform. Jennifer Lawrence told Fandango that she regularly engages in heated arguments in comment sections, with users completely unaware they're sparring with an A-list actress.
'I have a secret. I have, like, a secret life on TikTok… I get into fights on TikTok. I get in fights in the comment section,' the Oscar-winner revealed. What began as light-hearted exchanges about reality television personalities like the Kardashians and Real Housewives quickly escalated into something much more serious.
Royal Family Facts Spark Online Fury
The situation intensified dramatically when Lawrence began sharing historical facts about the Royal Family. 'I began spouting facts about the British Royal Family that some people just couldn't agree with,' she explained, noting that some users accused her of 'trashing' the monarchy.
Lawrence specifically highlighted one particular fact that caused considerable controversy. 'But a lot of people just did not know that the Mountbattens, Queen Elizabeth II, is married to her first cousin. It just is. That's just a fact. They are cousins,' the actress stated during her November 7, 2025 interview.
She defended her position against angry commenters, insisting: 'And people were thinking that I was, like, trashing them, and I'm like, "I'm not! This is just a fact." And it was also that in the 40s, it would have been normal.'
Setting the Royal Record Straight
While Lawrence's passion for royal history is evident, her claim about Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip being first cousins requires clarification. Historical records show they were not first cousins but were indeed related through multiple royal lines.
The late monarch and her husband were third cousins through their shared great-grandparents, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Additionally, they were second cousins once removed through their great-great-grandparents King Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel.
Reflecting on her online behaviour, Lawrence admitted: 'Anyway, that kind of started this whole thing. I guess I kind of rage-bait on TikTok. I'm like Kendra from The Catfish Mom.'
This revelation about Lawrence's secret online life emerges alongside previous reports that she once turned down a date with Prince Harry in 2015, politely declining an invitation to dinner and a tour of Kensington Palace.
The actress is currently promoting Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsey, in which she plays Grace, a young mother and writer descending into madness. The film, co-starring Robert Pattinson and Sissy Spacek, holds a 76% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been described by critics as presenting Lawrence with 'one of her most vivid roles yet.'
Die My Love is released in UK cinemas today.
