King Charles has been praised for pulling a flawless pint of Guinness during a special visit to mark the launch of a new brewery in the heart of London.
A Royal Lesson in the Perfect Pour
On Thursday 18 December 2025, the monarch toured the newly opened Guinness Open Gate Brewery London in Covent Garden. Under the expert guidance of Guinness experience ambassador Leo Ravina, the King tried his hand at the iconic two-part pour. He was instructed to hold the branded glass at a precise 45-degree angle for the initial stage.
Following tradition, Charles paused when the glass was three-quarters full, allowing the dark stout to settle. After a brief wait, he completed the pour, a process that took around 120 seconds in total. His efforts were met with high praise from his guide.
The Verdict and a Festive Moustache
At the end of the demonstration, Mr Ravina declared the monarch's handiwork a "perfect pint of Guinness". The King responded with a modest, "If you say so." The finished drink was then decorated by a machine with edible dyes, featuring the words "Merry Christmas" and a holly sprig.
After admiring the festive design, Charles took his first sip, which left the classic Guinness 'moustache' frosted on his upper lip. During the visit, he also sampled a selection of other beers brewed on-site in the basement, including a porter, a 'winter warmer', and an apricot sour, which he remarked did not taste like a typical beer.
Visit Coincides with Health Update
The light-hearted brewery trip came shortly after the King provided a positive update regarding his health. Last week, he revealed that his cancer treatment would be scaled back in the new year due to an early diagnosis. He used the opportunity to urge the public to take up available health screenings.
Leo Ravina later joked about the King's newfound skill, stating, "He did great, that was an ideal pint of Guinness. He's got the job - he's hired." The visit served as a festive moment for the monarch, who wished Britons a Merry Christmas during the occasion.
