Trump Considers Replacing Freedom 250 Concerts with Major Speech After Drop-Outs
Trump May Replace Freedom 250 Concerts with Speech

Donald Trump has announced he is considering canceling a planned series of concerts for the US's 250th anniversary after several artists withdrew, calling the event too political. The president suggested replacing them with a rally featuring himself, whom he described as a bigger draw than Elvis Presley.

Trump's Proposal

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote that artists were getting 'the yips' and that he was thinking of bringing 'the Number One Attraction anywhere in the World' to give a major speech instead. He ordered his representatives to explore holding an 'America is Back' rally on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., at the same time and location as the planned concerts.

Artist Withdrawals

The concerts were part of the Great American State Fair, a 16-day event from June 25 to July 10, 2026, organized by the Freedom 250 group. The fair was set to feature stages, state pavilions, exhibits, and rides on the National Mall. However, the musical lineup suffered cancellations. On Friday, Bret Michaels of Poison became the fifth performer to drop out, stating the event was not the nonpartisan celebration he expected.

Other artists, including Flo Rida and Vanilla Ice, are still scheduled to perform. Vanilla Ice posted a video saying the event is about celebrating America's birthday, not politics. A spokeswoman for Freedom 250, Rachel Reisner, emphasized that the fair belongs to all Americans and should not be overshadowed by division.

Uncertain Future

It remains unclear whether replacement musicians will be recruited or if Trump's rally proposal will be seriously considered. The Great American State Fair also includes a UFC fight and a Grand Prix race. The US will also print commemorative passports featuring Trump's portrait.
