Love Island star Adam Collard was allegedly assaulted by his own father, Billy Collard, a multi-millionaire property developer, during an incident in Newcastle last September. Billy Collard is set to face trial at Newcastle Magistrates Court on August 7, 2026, over the alleged assault.
Trial date set for alleged assault
A spokesperson for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Billy Collard has been charged with assault by beating, with Adam Collard named as the alleged victim. The exact circumstances that sparked the alleged altercation remain unknown. The Daily Mail reported that the court confirmed Adam was the alleged victim.
Adam's past praise for his father
Adam, 30, has previously spoken highly of his father in public, calling him 'the most inspiring person I know.' However, this is not Billy Collard's first encounter with the law. In 2008, he was found to have wrongfully claimed housing benefits totaling £6,000. He pleaded guilty, received a two-year conditional discharge, and was ordered to pay £2,000 in court costs, in addition to repaying the benefits.
Billy Collard's legal history
In 2019, HMRC seized £44,000 from Billy Collard under the Proceeds of Crime Act, though the money was returned after an appeal. In 2015, he was held by police after his neighbor and his daughter were assaulted in a car park. Speaking to the Mail in 2018 about the benefits fraud, Billy said: 'It is what it is. I did not even get a fine. Me and Adam are completely different. What I do is completely different from what Adam does.' He added: 'I do not really want to comment on Adam being in Love Island. It is not our type of thing.'
Adam Collard's career and family
Adam rose to fame in 2018 when he appeared on the fourth series of Love Island, returning to the show in 2022. After a stint on Celebs Go Dating, he began seeing sports presenter Laura Woods, and the couple are currently expecting their second child. Metro has reached out to Adam's reps for comment.
