Battersea stabbing: 17-year-old boy killed, police appeal

Police have released images of a major cordon in Battersea after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the early hours of Saturday, June 20. The Metropolitan Police has launched a murder inquiry following the incident on Glycena Road at around 4.20am.

Scene and investigation

Emergency services attended the scene, where the teenager was pronounced dead. A large crime scene remains in place, with surrounding roads closed. No arrests have been made so far. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation, said: “This is a critical stage of the investigation and I am appealing directly to the public: if you were in the Lavender Hill area between 4am and 5am, specifically Glycena Road, Acanthus Road or Pountney Road, and witnessed a group of males running, please come forward.”

Appeal for information

Howie added: “Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could prove crucial. CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage may provide vital evidence. I would also urge members of the public not to assume that information has already been shared, any detail could be of significant importance to the investigation.”
