Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder following a car crash that injured multiple pedestrians outside a busy West London shopping centre on Saturday afternoon.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Ealing Broadway at approximately 2:30pm on Saturday, June 27, when a vehicle struck several pedestrians. Mohamed allegedly left the scene after the crash. Five people were injured, with three requiring hospital care. The London Ambulance Service dispatched multiple resources, including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew, and an incident response officer. London's Air Ambulance was also sent to the scene.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: "We sent a number of resources including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, a volunteer emergency responder crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. We treated three patients at the scene and took one of them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority. The other two patients were taken to a local hospital."
Investigation and Charges
Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial investigations, but officers have confirmed the incident is not being treated as a terrorist attack. On Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Police announced that Mohamed, of Grange Park, Ealing, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder, dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, and criminal damage.
None of the casualties suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries. Two people who were not admitted to hospital were treated at the scene. Mohamed has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Monday.
