Ex-Met officer convicted of sexually assaulting teen cadet

A former Metropolitan Police officer has been convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage police cadet after plying him with alcohol in a hotel room near Heathrow Airport.

Abuse of Trust and Position

Grant Fulker, 32, from Surrey, was found guilty of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault by a jury at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, 9 January 2026. The court heard how the then-serving officer, who was attached to Specialist Operations, exploited his role as a volunteer police cadet leader.

In February 2024, Fulker bought four bottles of wine and invited a 17-year-old cadet to his hotel room, where they watched the television show Love Island. While drunk, Fulker touched the teenager and attempted to touch his penis over his clothing.

Swift Action and Prior Admissions

The victim reported the assault to his parents, leading to Fulker's arrest and charge within the same month. He was dismissed from the Met Police in March 2024 following an accelerated misconduct hearing.

Prior to this trial, Fulker had already admitted three counts of misconduct in public office. These charges related to sending sexualised WhatsApp messages to two other boys while he was acting as a cadet leader.

Force Response and Safeguarding Review

Commander Pete Stevens of the Metropolitan Police condemned Fulker's actions. "The actions of former PC Fulker were despicable," he said. "He abused his position of trust as a cadet leader to take advantage of these boys in the most appalling way."

Stevens expressed gratitude to the victims for coming forward, which enabled a swift investigation. He also outlined changes made to the Volunteer Police Cadet programme, including a restructure to reduce cadet numbers and adjust age ranges and activities.

Fulker is due to be sentenced on 27 February. The Met confirmed it has conducted inspections of all cadet units in London to ensure compliance with safeguarding policies following these allegations.
