Liberal Democrat MP Cameron Thomas has been suspended from the party pending the outcome of a police investigation. Thomas, the MP for Tewkesbury, was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday night, according to sources.
A party spokesperson stated: 'Cameron Thomas MP has had the party whip suspended pending the outcome of a police investigation. We are unable to comment further while the police investigation is ongoing.'
Thomas began his political career after a 23-year career in the Royal Air Force, during which he was deployed to Iraq, the Falklands, and Oman. He has previously criticized Elon Musk, suggesting the billionaire's interest in the Southport riots stemmed from a 'nostalgia for white supremacy.'
In March, Thomas traveled to Kyiv to deliver aid and was subsequently placed on a Russian stop list. He commented that the ban did not affect his travel plans and served as 'the greatest possible endorsement' of his parliamentary work.
This is a developing story. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
