Met detective sacked for sexual assault in pub toilet

A Metropolitan Police detective has been fired after a misconduct panel found he sexually assaulted a fellow officer by forcing his fingers up the colleague's bottom in a pub toilet.

The Assault at the Christmas Party

The incident occurred on December 7, 2023, at the Windmill Pub on Clapham Common, South London. The officers were attending a team Christmas party when the victim, referred to only as Officer A, went to the gents' toilets.

Disgraced Detective Constable Eugene Emmanuel followed him in seconds later. The hearing panel heard that despite the toilets being largely empty, Emmanuel "unnecessarily" chose to use the urinal immediately next to the one occupied by Officer A.

Shocking Details from the Hearing

The panel concluded that DC Emmanuel deliberately pushed his finger or fingers between Officer A's buttocks over his clothing. This was done with "sufficient force" for at least one finger to make contact with Officer A's anus, causing him significant humiliation and embarrassment.

The victim's shocked reaction was overheard by another Met Police officer who was in a private cubicle. This colleague gave evidence that he heard Officer A yelp "what the f*** are you doing" in a clearly startled tone.

Emmanuel denied the allegations, claiming he had only jokingly touched Officer A on the lower back. However, the panel preferred the compelling evidence from the victim and the witness.

Dismissal and Consequences

Another detective constable provided corroborating evidence, stating that Officer A had described how Emmanuel "inappropriately touched him on the buttocks and then cupped his fingers inwards on the buttocks crease", even using a hand gesture to demonstrate.

Following a hearing held between December 15 and December 18 last year, the panel found the allegations proven. DC Eugene Emmanuel was dismissed from the Metropolitan Police without notice for gross misconduct.

This case highlights serious breaches of professional standards and conduct within the police force, leading to the immediate removal of the officer involved.
