Comedian and actor Russell Brand is due to appear in court today to face two new charges of sexual offences, including one count of rape.
Details of the New Allegations
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that the 50-year-old Essex-born star has been charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault. These charges relate to two additional women and the alleged incidents are said to have occurred in 2009.
Brand is scheduled for his first appearance concerning these fresh charges at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday afternoon, January 20, 2026.
Previous Charges and Pleas
This latest development adds to a series of serious allegations against the television and film personality. Earlier this year, Brand pleaded not guilty to five separate charges at Southwark Crown Court in London.
Those previous charges, which he denies, include:
- Two counts of rape
- Two counts of sexual assault
- One count of indecent assault
Those alleged offences were said to have involved four women and spanned a period between 1999 and 2005.
Legal Proceedings and Next Steps
The new court date marks a significant escalation in the legal proceedings against Russell Brand. The CPS decision to bring further charges indicates an ongoing investigation into historical allegations.
As the case moves through the magistrates' court, it will be determined whether the matters will be sent to a crown court for trial. Brand has consistently denied all allegations made against him.
