A Life Cut Short in Tragedy

In an emotional tribute released through the Metropolitan Police, Ms Gunawardena's grieving family remembered her as someone who "lit up every room she walked into."

"Susannah was the most beautiful soul, so full of life and love for everyone," the family statement read. "She was a devoted daughter, sister and friend who adored animals and dedicated her life to caring for them."

Community in Mourning

The attack, which occurred in the Hillingdon area, has sent shockwaves through the local community. Two other women, aged 36 and 30, were also injured in the incident and remain in hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector James Shirley, leading the investigation, confirmed that a 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The suspect remains in custody as police continue their enquiries.

Neighbours Describe Chaos

Local residents reported scenes of chaos as multiple police vehicles and ambulances descended on the quiet cul-de-sac. One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described hearing "screaming and shouting" before emergency services arrived.

"It's normally so peaceful around here," they said. "You never expect something like this to happen on your doorstep."

Ongoing Police Investigation

Forensic teams have been conducting extensive examinations at the property throughout the week, with police cordons remaining in place around the scene. Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

"This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the death of a much-loved member of the community," DCI Shirley stated. "We're working tirelessly to establish the full circumstances surrounding what happened."

As the investigation continues, friends and clients of Ms Gunawardena have begun leaving floral tributes near the scene, remembering the woman known for her kindness and dedication to the animals in her care.
