Man Charged with Stabbing at Downing Street Protest

A man has been charged with stabbing another individual during a protest outside Downing Street this week, as demonstrators gathered to oppose the war in Iran. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 22, at 7:18 PM on Whitehall, where police responded to reports of a physical assault.

Arrests and Charges

Five men were arrested at the scene. The victim, a man in his 40s, sustained a knife wound and was taken to hospital but later discharged. His injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-changing. Vahid Madaffard, 37, from Kenilworth Avenue, Harrow, was charged overnight with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, April 24.

Ongoing Investigation

The four other men arrested have been released on bail pending further police enquiries. The Metropolitan Police believe the stabbing resulted from a dispute among protest attendees. The anti-war rally was part of a series of demonstrations against military action in Iran.
