Prince Harry is expected to stay at Buckingham Palace during his visit to London this week, his spokesperson confirmed. The Duke of Sussex, 41, formally accepted an invitation to stay at the palace for part of his trip, which includes attending the Invictus Games and other charity engagements.
Meghan and children skip London visit
Meghan Markle and the couple's children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, will not join Harry for the London leg of his UK visit. The decision is understood to be due to a lack of police security, following reports that taxpayer-funded protection was denied after a legal battle last year. A source said: 'The hope is they can meet their grandfather. But there is no way that can happen if they are chased by paparazzi wherever they go from the moment they step off the plane.'
Potential meeting with King Charles
All eyes will be on whether Harry will meet his father, King Charles. The father and son last met at Clarence House in September 2024, their first get-together since February 2024. Archie and Lilibet have not seen their grandfather in four years. It has not been confirmed whether Meghan and the children will join Harry for other parts of the UK visit.
Security concerns remain
The family's absence from the UK is attributed to ongoing concerns over protection. The legal battle over security status has been a point of contention, with the family wary of paparazzi attention. The Invictus Games, founded by Harry, are a key focus of his trip, alongside other charitable work.
