In a disturbing incident that has sparked widespread concern, far-right activist Tommy Robinson has been revealed to have followed a teacher to their home and filmed them without consent. This confrontation occurred after the educator requested to be addressed using the gender-neutral title 'Mx'.
Confrontation Outside School and Home
The anti-immigration campaigner initially released a 12-minute video outside a school in South Staffordshire, filmed before classes commenced. Robinson later travelled to the teacher's private residence to directly challenge them, though the teacher's identity remains undisclosed for safety reasons.
In the footage, Robinson claimed to have hired a private investigator to monitor the teacher's movements. This surveillance allegedly allowed him to determine when they were leaving for work, enabling the confrontation. He further asserted that pupils faced disciplinary action for misgendering the teacher and were removed from classes for lessons on pronoun usage.
School's Firm Rejection of Allegations
The school involved has strongly refuted these claims, describing them as 'wholly inaccurate'. In an official statement, school authorities clarified that 'the scenarios described online do not reflect actual events at our school'.
It is important to note that 'Mx' – pronounced 'mix' – serves as a title rather than a set of pronouns. It provides an alternative to gendered titles like Ms or Mr, commonly used by trans or non-binary individuals seeking inclusive recognition.
Teacher's Response and MP Involvement
The video shows Robinson persistently questioning the teacher outside their home about whether it is appropriate for students to use the Mx title. The teacher consistently declined to engage, repeatedly responding with 'no comment' while attempting to proceed to work.
Robinson continued following the teacher along the road, filming continuously until the educator eventually returned home and closed the door. Following the video's release, local MP and former Conservative education secretary Gavin Williamson shared a letter on social media that he had sent to the school's headteacher.
In his correspondence, Williamson expressed concern about the situation and repeated claims about children being removed from educational classes for pronoun instruction. He stated: 'Whilst I understand that it is important to be aware of sensitivities such as this, I strongly believe a school's main priority should be academic rather than "diversity box ticking" exercises.'
School's Comprehensive Response
Beneath his Facebook post sharing the letter, Williamson later published what was described as a statement from the school's headteacher, emailed to parents. The statement reassured that the school is 'working closely with the police and the relevant authorities to manage this situation and to ensure the privacy and safety of our staff and students'.
The headteacher requested that parents avoid viewing, sharing, or commenting on the posts and reiterated that claims about disciplinary measures for students are completely inaccurate. The statement emphasised: 'While we cannot comment on individual children or circumstances, we can assure you that any behaviour measures taken are always proportionate, appropriate and in line with our behaviour policy.'
The school affirmed its commitment to operating normally while maintaining a community built on mutual respect that does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Support systems remain in place for any affected members of the school community.
Academy Trust's Official Position
Windsor Academy Trust, which oversees the school, confirmed awareness of the video circulating online and their collaboration with police and authorities regarding the matter. They stated: 'Claims being made about disciplinary measures for students are wholly inaccurate. While we cannot comment on individual cases, all behaviour measures are proportionate, appropriate and in line with our behaviour policy.'
The Trust firmly stands against any form of discrimination directed at their school community, maintaining that they provide 'a calm, inclusive, respectful and focused environment for learning'. They expressed gratitude for the continued support from parents and the local community during this challenging situation.
