Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a young father in north London have announced a substantial reward for information leading to the conviction of his killers.
Details of the Tottenham Shooting
Mahad Abdi Mohamed, aged 27, was shot in the head on Waverley Road in Tottenham at approximately 8.45pm on Thursday, 20 March. A friend with him, aged 26, was also shot in the leg and received treatment for his injuries.
The Metropolitan Police believe the attackers arrived in a stolen blue Jaguar before switching to a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander. After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. The Mitsubishi was later found completely burned out.
Mistaken Identity and the Police Investigation
Investigators have stated they believe Mr Mohamed was the victim of a targeted attack but was likely mistakenly identified. Despite initial arrests of four adult men in March and April, all were released on bail, prompting the new appeal.
The £20,000 reward is being funded by the independent charity Crimestoppers for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
A Family's Grief and a Festive Appeal
Following the tragedy, Mr Mohamed's family issued a heartfelt statement, describing their "profound loss of a son, a brother, a father and a friend" and requesting privacy.
Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford said: “The loss of Mahad weighs heavy every day, but it will be particularly difficult for his loved ones to carry throughout their first festive season without him. There is someone out there who knows what happened that night and we are urging those individuals to find it in their heart to come forward.”
