Officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to West End Close in Stonebridge at approximately 9.35pm on Friday, December 19 following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensic teams have been meticulously examining the area, which remains behind a significant police cordon. New photographs from the scene show officers, including those with police dogs, conducting a thorough search for evidence.

Appeal for Witnesses as Investigation Intensifies

Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Neil John expressed his condolences and urged the public for help. "Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time," he stated.

DCI John confirmed that no arrests have been made and the gunman remains on the loose. He emphasised that enquiries are progressing rapidly to establish the circumstances that led to the tragic death.

"We believe there was a large group of people congregated nearby at the time the incident happened, and we are keen to hear from them," DCI John added. Police are particularly interested in any dashcam footage or information from individuals who may have witnessed the events in West End Close.

Community Reassurance and Increased Patrols

"I’d like to reassure the public that our investigation remains a priority," DCI John said. He urged anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact the police at the earliest opportunity.
