Tragic Death Following Charity Event Altercation

A 48-year-old father described as 'wonderful' by his devastated family has died in hospital ten days after an alleged assault at a charity event in Hertfordshire.

Jack Oliver Frogell, known to friends and family as Olly, was attacked during a private charity function at Hemel Hempstead Town FC in the early hours of October 25. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, he sadly passed away on Tuesday, November 4.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Hertfordshire Police have confirmed that the incident occurred during an altercation at the fundraising event. Officers were called to the football club following reports of an assault.

A man was arrested on October 26 in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, is leading the investigation. She stated: "Our thoughts are with Olly's family at this very difficult time. We are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to please come forward and help."

Family's Heartbreaking Tribute

In an emotional statement, Olly's wife Lisa paid tribute to her husband, describing him as "the most wonderful Dad and loving husband" who was "the heart of our community."

She expressed the family's profound grief, saying: "This has left us with a huge void in our lives that can never be filled."

The family's tribute highlights the devastating impact of the tragedy on both immediate relatives and the wider community who knew and loved the 48-year-old father.

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are continuing to appeal for information as they work to establish the exact circumstances leading up to the assault.

Detective Inspector Taylor emphasised the importance of witness cooperation: "We want to find out exactly what happened in the lead up to the assault. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be crucial to our investigation."

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Hertfordshire Police directly, quoting the relevant reference number for the case.
