Chaos in Wolverhampton as Stolen Bulldozer Tears Through City

A 41-year-old man has been arrested following an extraordinary incident that saw a 24-tonne bulldozer stolen and driven through the heart of Wolverhampton while the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

The dramatic events unfolded on Saturday, November 9, 2025, when police received reports that the massive construction vehicle had been taken from an address in Stafford. What followed was a destructive journey that would capture the attention of stunned onlookers and leave a trail of damage across the city.

Destructive Path Through the City

The stolen earthmover embarked on a reckless route that took it down Bridgnorth Road, Compton Road West, and even onto the busy A4150 dual carriageway. Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, the bulldozer wreaked havoc, damaging street furniture and tearing up road surfaces as it progressed.

Eyewitness footage captured the dramatic moment when the enormous vehicle crashed into a Royal Mail lorry in Wolverhampton city centre. The incident drew crowds of astonished spectators, many of whom initially mistook the police activity for a routine traffic stop.

Charlene Harris, 47, who filmed the extraordinary scene from a nearby pub, described the surreal moment: "When we came out, it looked like the police were stopping the Royal Mail van, but then we realised a copper was driving it. It was being used to block the road."

Dramatic Conclusion and Arrest

The bulldozer's destructive journey finally came to an end at 8:15pm on New Road in Willenhall. Throughout the incident, police officers were seen shouting at members of the public to keep their distance from the dangerous situation.

Ms Harris recalled the astonishing sight of the bulldozer easily pushing through the police blockade: "The bulldozer got through the lorry easily. We couldn't believe what was going on. The amount of police trying to stop it was unbelievable."

The 41-year-old suspect was arrested on multiple charges including drink driving, dangerous driving, threat to damage or destroy property, theft, failing to stop, taking a conveyance without consent, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour to cause harassment.

West Midlands Police confirmed the man remains in custody while investigations continue into one of the most unusual and destructive incidents to hit Wolverhampton in recent memory.
