Two men from South London have been handed significant prison sentences after armed police intercepted them following a brutal daytime stabbing in Kent.
Violent Attack in Medway
Andrew Wedderburn, 22, from Peckham, and Djorn Anderson, 23, of no fixed abode, travelled to Chatham Hill in Medway on April 20, 2025. At around 1.50pm, they approached a man believed by police to be involved in a prior dispute with them.
An argument quickly escalated into violence. The victim was pulled to the ground and stabbed before his assailants fled the scene, leaving him for dead as they raced back towards London.
Armed Interception on the A2
Their escape was short-lived. Approximately 90 minutes after the attack, and before they could reach home, a team of armed officers stopped the pair's black Audi on the A2 at Gravesend.
The subsequent arrest and investigation provided damning evidence. Officers linked both men to the Chatham Hill scene through CCTV footage and bloodstained clothing discovered inside their vehicle.
Sentencing and Police Warning
After pleading guilty at Maidstone Crown Court, the two were sentenced on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Wedderburn was jailed for four years for wounding with intent. Anderson received a longer term of five years and three months for the same charge, with an additional count for possession of a bladed article.
Both men will also serve a further two years and six months on licence upon their release from prison.
Detective Constable Joseph Clarke of Kent Police stated: "Today’s sentencing reflects the severity of this senseless attack and demonstrates the dire consequences of arming yourself with a knife. We worked tirelessly to ensure these men were brought to justice. I hope this sends a clear warning to those who travel to Kent intent on committing violent crime."
The case underscores the rapid response of police forces across county borders and the severe penalties facing those who choose to carry and use knives.
