Man shot dead in Brent, murder investigation launched

Metropolitan Police detectives have launched a murder investigation following a fatal shooting in Brent, north-west London, on Friday evening.

Emergency Response at the Scene

Officers were called to West End Close at 9.35pm on Friday 19 December 2025 following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with serious injuries.

Emergency first aid was administered to the victim, a 55-year-old man, but despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

Leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Neil John from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, expressed his condolences. "Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this incredibly difficult time," he stated.

DCI John confirmed that enquiries are progressing rapidly to establish the circumstances that led to the man's death. He directly appealed to the public for assistance, saying: "I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information, including dashcam footage, that will assist us with our enquiries to contact us at the earliest opportunity."

Police have a specific interest in a large group of people who were congregated nearby at the time of the incident and are keen for them to make contact.

Increased Patrols to Reassure Community

Acknowledging the alarm such violence causes, DCI John sought to reassure local residents. "There's no doubt this incident will cause concern in the local community and more widely, but we have increased patrols in the area," he said. "I'd like to reassure the public that our investigation remains a priority."

As is standard in the early stages of a major investigation, no arrests have been made. The investigation continues at pace as officers work to piece together the events that led to this tragic loss of life.
