A man has been formally charged with murder following a fatal stabbing at a residential building in north-west London.
Emergency Response to Tollgate House Incident
Metropolitan Police officers were called to Tollgate House on Tollgate Gardens in Maida Vale at 9.42pm on Friday, December 20. The emergency call reported a stabbing had taken place inside a flat.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 40-year-old man with serious stab wounds. Paramedics treated him at the scene before he was rushed to hospital. Despite their efforts, the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
Arrest and Court Appearance
The investigation led to the arrest of Leon Douglas, 45, of Watford Way in Hendon, on Tuesday, December 24. He was subsequently charged with murder the following day, Wednesday, December 25.
Douglas is currently remanded in custody and is scheduled to make his first court appearance at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday, December 27.
Police Investigation and Family Support
Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Denby, the senior investigating officer, expressed his condolences. "My thoughts are with the victim’s family at this unimaginably difficult time," he stated. The victim's next of kin are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
