Community Vigilance Leads to Sex Offender's Arrest

A convicted sex offender who was mistakenly released from prison has been dramatically rearrested in North London following a crucial tip-off from a vigilant member of the public. Brahim Kaddour-Cherif was detained by police in Finsbury Park on Friday 7 November 2025, bringing an end to a frantic search operation.

The Moment of Arrest

The exclusive arrest, filmed by Sky News, unfolded after locals provided officers with precise information about Kaddour-Cherif's whereabouts. "It's him, it's him, it's him," an urgent voice can be heard saying moments before police moved in. The individual who played a pivotal role in the operation was Nadjib, a North African man known to the wanted man from their shared community.

Nadjib revealed to Sky News that he had been actively searching for the sex offender since his mistaken release from HMP Wandsworth. So determined was he to ensure a correct identification that he carried a folded newspaper clipping containing Kaddour-Cherif's photograph in his pocket. "I'm very happy when he got arrested," Nadjib stated unequivocally. "I don't like the sex offenders."

Pattern of North London Manhunts

This incident marks the second high-profile arrest Nadjib has witnessed in the same park within a month. He was also present when Ethiopian asylum seeker Hadush Kebatu was apprehended in Finsbury Park following a 48-hour manhunt across the capital. Kebatu has since been deported to Ethiopia.

When questioned about why both wanted men ended up in the same North London location, Nadjib pointed to the area's community connections. "Because the community, he came here for the community of Algerians," he explained. Several Algerian individuals spoken to on Friday expressed their shame that the sex offender had remained at large in their community.

Nadjib confirmed he had seen Kaddour-Cherif regularly in the area since his mistaken prison release, stating: "I know him from the community. He has been around here every night since he was released from prison." With the successful operation concluded, Nadjib's final words before walking away were simple: "Job done."
