Woman Fighting for Life After City Centre Attack
A woman in her thirties is fighting for her life in hospital after being stabbed in the neck during what police have described as an unprovoked attack in Birmingham city centre.
The violent incident occurred on Smallbrook Queensway shortly before 9pm on Friday evening, prompting an emergency response from West Midlands Police.
Arrest Made Near Scene
Officers confirmed that a man in his 20s was arrested close to the location of the stabbing and currently remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector James Nix stated: "We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened."
The victim sustained what authorities have termed a serious neck injury and was rushed to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
Police Reassurance Patrols
West Midlands Police have moved to reassure the public, confirming they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the disturbing incident.
"We will have officers in the area today to continue our investigation and provide reassurance," Detective Inspector Nix added in his statement.
