Rare 1969 Jensen FF Emerges from Three Decades of Barn Storage
A remarkable automotive discovery has come to light as a rare 1969 Jensen FF, untouched for over thirty years, has been found preserved in a barn with its original documentation still complete. This exceptional find, one of fewer than 200 examples ever produced, represents a significant piece of British motoring history that has remained dormant since the early 1990s.
Untouched Legacy of a Staffordshire Industrialist
The car was originally owned by Mr ST Pickard, who used it to inspect his Staffordshire quarry sites on Friday afternoons, accumulating approximately 60,000 miles during his ownership. Following his death in the mid-1990s, the vehicle was driven directly into storage in a dry garage, where it has remained completely undisturbed ever since. It has never been restored, repainted, or modified, making it an extraordinarily rare survivor in original condition.
Now owned by Mr Pickard's daughter, who inherited the vehicle after her father's passing, the Jensen FF has never been driven under her ownership. Despite years of accumulation of dust, the interior remains perfectly intact and original, while the engine bay displays matching numbers. The car retains its original keys, handbooks, and comprehensive documentation, including the sales invoice, green logbook, and a complete file of Jensen service records.
Technical Pioneer Heading to Auction
The Jensen FF represents one of the most technically ambitious vehicles of its era, being the world's first production performance car to feature both four-wheel drive and anti-lock braking systems. Today, it is widely regarded as one of the most significant British GT cars of the 1960s, making this particular example especially noteworthy given its untouched state and complete provenance.
Iconic Auctioneers is preparing to offer this remarkable garage find for sale later this month. Joe Watts, Car Specialist at Iconic Auctioneers, commented on the significance of the discovery, stating that it perfectly reflects their commitment to offering outstanding vehicles with compelling stories at every level of the market.
Additional Vehicle from Family Collection
The Jensen FF will be sold alongside another vehicle from the same family collection – a 1943 Ford GPW Willys Jeep believed to have served with the Royal Navy. Purchased as surplus in the late 1950s, this Jeep spent approximately seventy years in daily use on a country estate and remains largely untouched, retaining its original chassis along with what is believed to be its original engine and bodywork.
This discovery serves as a powerful reminder of the hidden automotive treasures that can still be found preserved in barns and garages across the country, waiting to be rediscovered by new generations of enthusiasts and collectors.
