A couple who purchased an abandoned pink house in rural Wales for £200,000 were left stunned after discovering the sheer volume of rubbish and a collection of bizarre items left inside, including a set of false teeth.
A Surprise Purchase and a Hidden Mess
Ryan and Jenny Knight placed a bid on the crumbling 1970s-built property in Anglesey, north Wales, without ever having seen the interior. They were taken aback when their offer was accepted, drawn by a feeling the woodland-surrounded home had a 'unique' character ripe for renovation.
Their first glimpse inside revealed the scale of the task. "You can imagine there’s a lot of rubbish inside and outside the house," Jenny said. "We knew it was going to be messy but didn’t know how messy it would be." The previous owners' ill health had led to squatters occupying the property, leaving behind tonnes of waste.
Unearthing Bizarre Treasures Amid the Trash
As they began the monumental clear-out, the couple encountered old newspapers, pictures, clothes, and countless boxes and bags. However, one find stood out. "The teeth were definitely the weirdest thing we found – they were the funniest and did provide the most laughs," Jenny admitted. Ryan also had to contend with his fear of spiders amidst the property's "really massive cobwebs."
The 3,000 square foot house, which features streams and a pond on its grounds, comprises four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a large lounge, a living room, and an extra lounge at the rear. Jenny noted its Mediterranean feel with big arched windows, though it was reportedly built with Roman villa inspiration.
The Long Road to Restoration
The Knights face extensive work, including entirely new plumbing, electrics, windows, and roof repairs. They have already started by trimming bushes, removing rubbish, and carving a pathway through the house.
Jenny began documenting their progress on social media the very day they finalised the purchase in January 2026, quickly amassing 90,000 followers. "People like the process of seeing things change," she said, adding she had to learn about hashtags from scratch.
With a realistic outlook, the couple are not rushing. "We’d like to be able to go there and have some friends without moving in, but there is no way it will be finished in 12 months," Jenny stated. "We want to renovate it and bring it back, and we are not in a rush."
