Television personality Vogue Williams has offered fans an exclusive first glimpse inside the sprawling London property she and husband Spencer Matthews plan to transform into their "forever home". The couple confirmed the purchase earlier this year, coinciding with unfounded tabloid speculation about the state of their marriage.
End of an era in Battersea, start of a new project
The move marks a significant change for the family, who have sold their luxurious £5.25million two-storey apartment in Battersea after seven years. Vogue, 40, described it as the "end of an era", as it was the first home they shared as a couple and where they started their family with children Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, three.
In a candid new YouTube vlog, the I'm A Celebrity star explained the scale of the project ahead. The renovation is expected to take around 18 months, during which time the family will live in a rental property "around the corner" from their new investment.
Buying a 'dream home' while denying divorce claims
Vogue addressed the ironic timing of their purchase head-on. The house was secured in the spring, precisely when rumours began circulating that she and former Made in Chelsea star Spencer, 37, were heading for a split.
"Weirdly, we were buying our dream, forever home when the papers were saying that me and Spen were breaking up when, in actual fact, we'd just bought our forever home, so don't believe everything you read!" she told viewers. The deal was finalised in June.
A tour of the property's potential
Williams enthusiastically showed off the new abode, starting at the distinctive dark brown door with stained glass. Inside, she highlighted the spacious living area's period features, including decorative ceiling trims and intricate plasterwork.
"I could just live here now. If we didn't have to do it up, I'd live here," she said, admiring the built-in bookshelves, fireplace, and floor-length windows. The garden, while currently overgrown from the previous owner's passionate gardening, will be partially cleared to create grass space for the children, though all trees will be kept.
The couple have claimed an entire floor for themselves, planning to add a freestanding bath to their bedroom, which features a fireplace and a bay window. The current kitchen, with its funky tiles and blue cabinets, and a bathroom with marble walls and black trim, are all set for transformation.
Keeping Spencer's ambitions in budget
Vogue revealed one of the practical challenges of the project: reining in her husband's extravagant ideas. Joking that she has to "put the reins on Spencer", she reminded him of her degree in quantity surveying and knowledge of costs.
"The things he wants are just not in our budget, so they are being swiftly removed!" she stated. "It will still be the dream house, but it will just be within our budget."
The family also owns a home in Howth, Dublin, but their work primarily keeps them in London. The children's school will be moved to a different branch of the same institution to allow for the morning walk, a routine Vogue cherishes.
Looking to the future, Vogue teased a potential celebration in the renovated house, coinciding with their 10-year wedding anniversary in 2028. "We're gonna have maybe another wedding, it's gonna be in this house, and you're gonna love it then," she promised fans, acknowledging the significant work that lies ahead first.
