Lille demand £69-89m for World Cup star Bouaddi

Lille have set a hefty price tag of between £69 million and £89 million for teenage midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, whose World Cup performances have attracted interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Bayern Munich. According to French outlet RMC Sport, the Ligue 1 club is demanding a fee dependent on the structure of the deal, with a preference for Bouaddi to return on loan for the 2026-27 season.

World Cup breakthrough

The 18-year-old Morocco international has been a standout at the 2026 World Cup, playing in three of his country’s four matches so far. He had only three caps before the tournament, but his performances helped Morocco reach the last 16 after a penalty shootout victory over the Netherlands on Monday. Morocco will face Canada next, aiming to repeat their 2022 semi-final run.

Bouaddi has already amassed 96 appearances for Lille in all competitions, including nine in the Champions League, demonstrating remarkable experience for his age. His all-action midfield style has made him one of the most wanted young players globally.

Transfer fee and loan condition

RMC Sport reports that Lille are seeking between £69m and £89m, with the lower figure applicable if Bouaddi is loaned back to Lille for the 2026-27 season. If buying clubs do not agree to the loan, they must pay a higher upfront fee. The loan proposal may deter suitors, as nearly £70m is a significant investment for a player who would be unavailable for a year.

The Athletic adds that Manchester City value Bouaddi’s versatility, seeing him as an option in midfield and at right-back. City are also targeting Chelsea’s Malo Gusto for the right-back position, but a £75m asking price has made a deal unlikely.

Interest from Premier League giants

Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also monitoring Bouaddi. The high price tag reflects Lille’s determination to keep the player or secure a massive profit. With the World Cup still ongoing, Bouaddi’s value could rise further if Morocco progress deeper into the tournament.
