New Shoreditch Half Marathon Set to Launch in September 2026

London's vibrant running community is about to get an exciting new addition. A brand new half marathon is launching in Shoreditch this September, offering runners an alternative to the increasingly popular Hackney Half. The 13.1-mile race comes from the same experienced organisers who have made the Hackney Half one of London's most sought-after running events.

From 10k to Half Marathon: The Evolution of Run Shoreditch

The event began last year as a 10k race, starting in Shoreditch Park and winding through the boroughs of Hackney and Islington before returning to the park. This year marks its expansion to a full half marathon distance, though the exact route details are still being finalised. What we do know is that the race will maintain its Shoreditch Park start and finish location, providing a familiar base for participants.

Event Features and Atmosphere

Organisers are promising an event that captures the energetic spirit of its Hackney counterpart. Road closures will be implemented to ensure runner safety, while live music, dedicated cheer zones, and enthusiastic supporters will line the route to keep participants motivated throughout the 13.1 miles. An event village will buzz with activity, featuring local food and drink vendors, brand activations, giveaways, and live entertainment.

Scale and Accessibility

While the Hackney Half attracted approximately 25,000 runners last year, the Shoreditch Half will be a more intimate affair, with organisers aiming for around 10,000 participants. This smaller scale might appeal to runners seeking a slightly less crowded experience while still enjoying the atmosphere of a major organised event.

Registration Details and Training

Entry fees for the Shoreditch Half will start from £45, with early access registration available now and full registration opening on February 4. For those inspired to participate, now is the time to begin training for the September 20 event date. London offers numerous excellent running routes and supportive running groups to help prepare for the challenge.

The launch of this new half marathon reflects London's growing running culture and provides another opportunity for fitness enthusiasts to challenge themselves while experiencing the unique atmosphere of an organised mass participation event in one of London's most dynamic neighbourhoods.
