Highgate Harriers athlete Sonny Allen has raced into the history books with a remarkable gold medal performance at the National Cross-Country Championships in Sedgefield. The 15-year-old from Westminster secured victory in the Women's Under-17s category, becoming the club's first national champion in over a century.

Sonny Allen's triumph marks a significant milestone for Highgate Harriers, as she becomes their first national cross-country champion since 1914. Competing as the club's sole representative in the Women's Under-17s age group, Allen faced formidable competition from the country's top long-distance runners. The talented teenager, who attends St Marylebone School in Westminster, completed the challenging 5km course at Hardwick East Park in an impressive time of 16 minutes and 17 seconds.
