British boxing champion Anthony Joshua is receiving treatment at one of Nigeria's most exclusive private hospitals, with his mother Yeta Odusanya having flown to his bedside. This follows a devastating car crash in Ogun State, Nigeria, on Monday which claimed the lives of two of his close friends and team members.
Surviving a Tragic Collision
The 36-year-old Joshua was the sole survivor of the horrific incident. The collision resulted in the tragic deaths of Sina Ghami and Kevin 'Latif' Ayodele. Reports indicate that Joshua's position in the front passenger seat of the vehicle likely spared him from the catastrophic injuries that proved fatal for his companions, though he still required urgent medical attention.
He was swiftly transported to the Duchess International Hospital in the Ikeja area of Lagos. His promotional company, Matchroom Boxing, has confirmed the athlete remains in a "stable condition" after being admitted for necessary checks and treatment.
Recovery in a 'State-of-the-Art' Facility
The hospital, which opened just five years ago, markets itself as Nigeria's premier medical facility. It describes its offering as a "state-of-the-art, purpose-built, fully ensuite 100-bed hospital facility" providing a full spectrum of healthcare services.
Treatment at the Duchess International Hospital commands a significant premium. The most basic accommodation, the Royal Suites, starts from £2,000 per night. The hospital's website showcases elegant, panelled interiors with lavish marble floors and is reportedly furnished with luxury Chanel-branded items.
A Highly Personalised Service
The facility prides itself on a "highly personalised service" and complex care tailored to individual patient needs. Each Royal Suite includes a separate lounge, an ensuite bedroom, and dedicated guest amenities.
Patients have access to round-the-clock dining, with three-course meals available 24 hours a day and prepared according to personal preferences. The hospital's focus is on delivering a comprehensive and luxurious recovery environment, which now surrounds the British boxing star as he recovers from the traumatic event with his mother providing crucial family support.
