Queiroz accuses Bellingham of sparking tunnel clash

Carlos Queiroz has blamed Jude Bellingham for initiating a furious bust-up during England's goalless World Cup draw against Ghana, claiming the Real Madrid midfielder used 'bad names' after a dangerous tackle. The incident occurred just before half-time when Bellingham fouled Jerome Opoku in front of the dugout, prompting Queiroz to intervene.

England, managed by Thomas Tuchel, failed to register a shot on target in the first half as Ghana's disciplined low block frustrated the Three Lions. The 0-0 stalemate means England must beat Panama on Saturday to guarantee top spot in their group.

What sparked the confrontation

Speaking after the match, Queiroz, a former Manchester United assistant under Sir Alex Ferguson, explained: 'First my intention was to tell him to cool down with that tackle that he did. It could be a second yellow card or red card, it was clear because he went his foot against our player. But my first role was to cool down because I was worried that that player was not 100% out. He had a bad reaction with some bad names and that's why the story started.'

Bellingham was held back by teammate Morgan Rogers as Ghana assistant coach John Paintsil joined the altercation, hurling insults. Despite the row, Bellingham was named man of the match, though he felt undeserving: 'It probably should've gone to one of their lads who defended so well. I had a couple of moments but couldn't get in the game. I'm grateful to whoever voted.'

England's attacking woes

Captain Harry Kane missed England's best chance late on, lashing over from close range after Nico O'Reilly's header hit the crossbar. Kane reflected: 'Maybe just a little bit of quality but these games are tough. Sometimes you need an early goal to open up the match... I'm backing myself to score more often than not. One of those but I've lived the striker life long enough to know they're not always going to go in.'

England remain in a strong position to advance, but the draw highlights concerns over creativity against defensive sides. Tuchel's team will need to improve ahead of the crucial Panama fixture.
