DS Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is the dodgiest copper to walk the beat in Coronation Street for a while. Okay, so he’s not quite as extreme as DC Becky “fake my death” Swain (Amy Cudden), but this bent bobby has a history of playing fast and loose with the law when it comes to protecting his family and punishing his enemies. Not only did he blackmail beloved resident Beth Tinker to flee the street for good just to protect his counterfeit T-shirts side-hustle, but he craftily created a false friendship with poor dearly departed PC Craig Tinker so he’d confess to past rule-bending all in the name of leverage. There’s also been repeated instances of him framing people just to grease the wheels of justice – most famously planting evidence that got Bethany’s abuser Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) arrested.
Kit's vendetta against Gary Windass
With that in mind, he’s probably the very last copper you’d want sniffing around Theo Silverton’s murder investigation, especially seeing as he’s got major beef with one of the prime suspects – Gary Windass (Mikey North). DS Green has been consistently suspicious of the bad boy builder, and for good reason. To be fair, Gary did smash up Theo’s van after making a chilling threat on the abuser’s life on the day he died, only to delete the footage and have his wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) provide a false alibi once he realised just how bad that looked. Nonetheless, Kit remained certain that Gary had blood on his hands.
The true killer revealed
Which was very ironic, because the true killer was a lot closer to home. Theo’s murderer is none other than Kit’s girlfriend, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). This was revealed last month during the dinner party from hell, where a suspicious Maria finally confronted Sarah for sneaking about with her man recently and accused them both of having an affair. Understandable, given the fact that Sarah and Gary share a long and complicated romantic history. The truth was, as is often common in soap land, so much worse. It turns out Sarah called Gary on that fateful night that she pushed Theo to his death off the scaffolding in self-defence, and in a panic called Gary, who promptly disposed of the body. Needless to say, were the truth to come out, Sarah would be looking at a long stretch behind bars – which could very well be on the cards.
Kit's proposal and Sarah's confession
Seeing as he’s planning to propose, that means Kit is going to do just about anything he can to keep Sarah out of jail, including but not limited to outright breaking the law by abusing his power as a police officer. Upcoming scenes will see the bent bobby do just that. Having clocked Gary and Maria arguing on the street, Kit tells Lisa (Vicky Myers) he is suspicious of their behaviour. But Lisa is quick to remind him he is off the case. So it’s clear Kit is channelling his energies elsewhere when Sarah arrives home to find her man has cooked a romantic lunch. But her surprise turns to shock when Kit drops to one knee and asks her to marry him. What answer will she give? Well, Sarah’s got a bombshell of her own to drop when she gets overcome by a wave of guilt and confesses that she is Theo’s murderer. So is that a yes or a no, Sarah? That question gets answered during a heart to heart between the couple in the flat. But can they agree on their future plans? Or will they go their separate ways?
Kit crosses the line: data tampering
At the station, Kit studies the evidence board relating to Theo’s murder and tries to quiz DI McLaughlin (Michelle Tate) about the suspects. McLaughlin refuses to be drawn in. What will Kit do? After returning from the station, Kit warns Sarah that her freedom is in Gary’s hands and she needs to get hold of his phone so they can delete any data which might incriminate her. Will Gary give her the phone? Then Kit crosses his biggest line yet – data tampering. Kit secretly calls the guy tasked with wiping the data from Gary’s phone and asks him to forward any information he can find to his personal email address.
Arrest imminent: Gary or Sarah?
On the street, DC McLaughlin tells Lisa that they’re ready to arrest Theo’s murderer. But who is it… Gary or Sarah? Has Kit framed Gary to save the woman he loves? The Theo plot thickens as Maria makes an admission to Kit in Coronation Street, and all Coronation Street exits, returns and new arrivals coming in 2026 are revealed.
